Starting New Things

Hello all, just thought I would finally post and get away from the news for a while. For those of you that did not know I took Deborah to Baton Rouge this past weekend a the request of another ambulance service that was needing additional people to staff their ambulance that is posted there for the hurricane relief. She called me as we were heading back up I 55 coming home, by the way the speed limits did not count since we met several police cars while we were running about 90, and said that they were on their way to the airport in Kenner, LA to help evacuees onto busses and planes. She said it was a sureal moment being in the same room as a soldier holding a M-16 just waiting for something to happen, I have been aroundguns and even had a couple pointed at me but never around a military presence. I am ver proud of Deborah for even wanting to go down there uch less actually going and helping, I will never be able to explain how proud of her I am, not only for this but for all she does. She is home now due to several factors, mainly the presence of ambulances are starting to scale down. The Incident Command system during this disaster is not working very well. Do not get me wrong, I am not condemning the job they are doing since a disaster this large would be extremely difficult to manage. Deb also recently started back to school, she started Paramedic school in El Dorado last week. So in one year she will be ready to go. It i going to be tough for her, she is already torn between school and the home. She has all the help that she can ever need, the girls and me. I also recently started taking internet coursed through SAU Tech in Camden. I am workiong on my Associated Degree in Fire Service Managment. I hope I can handle it.

Before ending this post Iwould like to let you all know about just some of the very special ambulance services from our state that have been helping out in New Orleans (these are just the ones that I saw while I was there): Pro Med, Ar. Childrens Hospital, Paffords, EASI, Ar. Emergency Transport, Benton County and I am sure there are countless others. Also I do not want to leave out our specialists at the Ar. Dept. of Health-EMS and Trauma Division in LittleRock for all there hard work and countless hours. Good job to all!!!
